The 45th Komatsu Global Skills Competition was held at Komatsu Japan's Ibaraki, Osaka, and Himi factories. With the globalization of production, the Komatsu Skills Competition, which aims to "keep improving and ensure product quality," has become more and more important, and the scale of the competition is also expanding.

The competition is held every year, and company executives will also participate in person. It has attracted much attention as an important event that promotes skill inheritance, talent cultivation, and improves the skill level of Komatsu around the world. Even during the COVID-19 epidemic, the competition was still held through online review, scattered domestic competitions, and regional competitions.

After a lapse of four years, the 45th Komatsu Global Skills Competition once again welcomed participants from Japan and abroad. A total of 192 people, including 34 people from outsourcing companies and 32 people from overseas subsidiaries, participated in this competition, showing their talents in machinery, welding, assembly, painting, heat treatment, performance testing, remanufacturing, casting, electronics and other fields. , there was a fierce competition.

Komatsu Ltd. was established from Komatsu Iron Works Ltd. (est. 1917), which manufactured mining machines, developed by Meitaro Takeuchi, founder of Komatsu Ltd., for use in the Yusenji copper mine. Based on a firm belief that developing the machinery industry in rural areas and promoting its growth, as well as looking to transcend national boundaries with high-quality products, Meitaro Takeuchi began manufacturing at Komatsu Ltd. with an eye to international markets, even when he founded Komatsu. The next year, Komatsu absorbed Komatsu Electric Steel Mills, building the foundation for integrated production from steel castings to machining and assembly, which has resulted in one of Komatsu’s strengths today.
